Periodic fasting merely two meals per month can prevent the risk of disease

Researchers at Intermountain Medical Center's Heart Institute have shown the benefits of fasting that done regularly can reduce the risk of diseases including diabetes and health promotion in general, as well as highly helps burn fat. According to Dr. Benjamin Horne, fasting can be used as an indicator of a healthy lifestyle as well as to reduce the risk of disease, even those at risk of developing diabetes.

According to the doctors of the Intermountain Medical Center's Heart Institute in their presentation at the American College of Cardiology in New Orleans, said that new discovery on the physiological benefits from regular fasting that merely two meals per month can be beneficial to our significant health, and is recommended as a routine part of health promoting lifestyle.

Benefits of fasting, such as degradation of fat cells in the body reduces the risk of high cholesterol, insulin resistance, and diabetes, because during fasting, the body's fuel source is fat and not glucose.

The benefits in the study were seen by merely skipping at least two meals on a regular basis. The researchers also have conducted a further research to ensure the benefits of fasting is not merely the result of a healthy lifestyle among the fasters. Periodic fasting can increase growth hormone that regulates glucose and insulin in the body, lower risk of coronary artery disease and diabetes risk.
