Stop breast cancer tumor growth with parsley

New research suggests you to not just use parsley as a decoration of food, but more mainstream to eat parsley to stop the growth of certain breast cancer tumor cells. The research published in Cancer Prevention Research, shows that parsley and certain other plant products such as fruits and nuts, contain a natural substance to halt certain breast cancer tumor cells from multiplying and growing.

The research team are Salman Hyder, the Zalk Endowed Professor in Tumor Angiogenesis and professor of biomedical sciences in the University of Missouri-Columbia's College of Veterinary Medicine and the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center. The study gave some rats with a particular type of breast cancer, a common compound found in parsley and other plant products called "apigenin". The rats given apigenin had shown growth of cancer tumors were much less with significant delays in tumor development compared to those rats that were not given apigenin.

According to Dr. Hyder, apigenin in parsley and celery including apples, oranges, nuts and other plant products, will blocked new blood vessel formation which has an impact on slowing and even stopping the development of tumors. It also can reduce the number of tumor but not early formation of breast cancer cells.

The discovery is expected to be a new solution that more secure than certain hormone replacement therapies. According to the researchers, the use of certain synthetic hormones in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can accelerate breast tumor development.

Coffee could reduce breast cancer risk

A study conducted by researchers at Sweden's prestigious Karolinska Institute, showed that drinking coffee for women can reduce breast cancer risk. The study, published in BioMed Central's open access journal Breast Cancer Research, explained that a compound in coffee can specifically reduces the anti-estrogen-resistant estrogen-receptor (ER) negative breast cancer.

Although not yet known certain types of compounds and mechanisms contained in coffee that can be beneficial for breast cancer risk, but study has found protective effect of coffee on breast cancer zeroed on one type of the disease, the ER-negative breast cancer.

Research involved women with breast cancer and women without breast cancer in the same age. Women who frequently drink coffee have a lower incidence of breast cancer overall than those who rarely drank coffee. The study also compared other factors such as age menopause, lifestyle, exercise, weight, education, and family history of breast cancer. Another conclusion also refers to the way of the preparation or the type of coffee itself.

Research results confirm that the factor of food and beverages can be an important factor the occurrence of disease, and we can use natural compounds of a plant to prevent it. Initial examination of cancer with mammograms is known to increase risk of breast cancer in some women.

According to data from the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer has took lives of nearly 50,000 people in the U.S. last year.

Research: Breast cancer can be prevented with vitamin D intake and sun exposure

New research by French scientists have managed to find the key to preventing breast cancer by a combination of a higher intake of vitamin D either from food or supplements and regular exposure to direct sunlight

A previous study also mentions the relationship between vitamin D deficiency in women with breast cancer risk which has been suggested the excess of vitamin D as an anti-cancer. Vitamin D can influence cell growth, differentiation of healthy cells and programmed cell death (apoptosis).

However, intake of vitamin D from food and supplements alone would not be complete without a combination of regular exposure to direct sunlight. French scientists have compared women with a place of abundant sunshine in the south of France only had half of risk than women who live in less sunny areas such as Paris. Scientists concluded that exposure to sunlight regularly have the most significant protection from developing breast cancer.

Results of a study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, concluded that the importance of women to get a good intake of vitamin D from sunlight exposure and diet to reduce the risk of breast cancer. It is also influenced by the ability of an individual woman to process or synthesize vitamins from food and sunlight exposure.

Currently, almost the average woman in France and America have low levels of vitamin D, especially from the least sun exposure.
